What Is Paxlovid?

Paxlovid (nirmatrelvir/ritonavir) is an antiviral medication used to treat COVID-19 in adults who are at higher risk of severe illness. It works by reducing the ability of the virus to replicate in the body, helping to lower the risk of hospitalisation and serious complications.

Paxlovid is most effective when started as early as possible — ideally within 5 days of symptom onset. This is why it's important to contact us promptly after a positive test.


Who May Be Eligible?

Paxlovid is not suitable for everyone. Eligibility is based on a number of factors, including:

  • A confirmed positive COVID-19 test result
  • Symptom onset within the last 5 days
  • Being at higher risk of severe COVID-19 (e.g. older age, underlying health conditions, or immunocompromised status)
  • No contraindications with current medications (Paxlovid has several important drug interactions)

How to Access Paxlovid at Corner Pharmacy

  • Step 1 — Test positive or develop symptoms: As soon as you receive a positive COVID-19 result or begin experiencing symptoms, contact us
  • Step 2 — Call us: Phone Corner Pharmacy to speak with a pharmacist. Do not walk in if you are symptomatic
  • Step 3 — Eligibility assessment: Our pharmacist will review your situation, medical history, and current medications to determine if Paxlovid is appropriate
  • Step 4 — Prescription and dispensing: If eligible, we can prescribe and dispense Paxlovid directly — no GP visit required
