Ear Piercing Service — Hillsborough, Auckland

Looking for a safe, professional ear piercing near you? Corner Pharmacy on Dominion Road Extension, Hillsborough offers ear piercings performed by our trained pharmacy staff — using sterile, single-use equipment for your peace of mind.

Who Is This Service For?

Our ear piercing service is suitable for children aged 5 and over, as well as adults. Parental or guardian consent is required for anyone under 16. Please check with our team if you have a younger child, as availability may vary.

What to Expect on the Day

No appointment is necessary — you're welcome to walk in and chat with our team. If you'd like to confirm a trained staff member will be available, feel free to call ahead.

On the day, our team will:

  • Walk you through the piercing process so you know exactly what to expect
  • Help you choose from our range of earrings
  • Perform the piercing using a piercing gun with a pre-loaded, single-use sterile cartridge — designed specifically for ear piercing

The process is quick, safe, and carried out with care.

Aftercare — The First 6 Weeks

Good aftercare is essential for a healthy, well-healed piercing. Follow this routine twice daily for 6 weeks:

  • Wash your hands thoroughly (preferably with antibacterial soap) before touching the piercing
  • Rinse the piercing with water and use a fresh cotton bud to gently remove any crust
  • Apply Ear Care Solution (available from our pharmacy) to the piercing
  • Rotate the stud 180° left, then 180° right — full half-turns only, to prevent hair wrapping around the post
  • Keep your ears dry between cleans

Do not remove the studs for the first 6 weeks. For the first 6 months, avoid going more than 24 hours without wearing jewellery in the piercing.

Cleaning more than twice daily can damage the delicate skin cells around the piercing. Less frequently may invite infection. Twice daily is the sweet spot.

What If My Ears Become Infected?

A small amount of local pain and swelling in the first 48 hours is normal. However, ongoing pain, redness, or swelling may indicate an infection and should be addressed promptly.

At the first sign of infection:

  • Remove the post three times daily and clean it with Ear Care Solution — do not use hydrogen peroxide or alcohol, as these slow down skin healing
  • Clean both sides of the earlobe using a cotton ball or swab with sterile saline
  • Before reinserting the post, apply a small amount of Ear Care Solution to help the infection heal

If pain and swelling do not subside after 48 hours, please seek medical attention. Our pharmacy team is also happy to take a look and advise.
