Description
Dimetapp DM Cold & Cough Elixir is a great tasting medicine for colds and allergies, with the added benefit of a cough suppressant, to relieve dry, irritating coughs. It relieves the symptoms including: nasal and sinus congestion blocked/runny nose itchy, watery eyes sneezing dry irritating cough. It may be taken diluted with water or fruit juice.
Ingredients:
Each 5ml of liquid contains Brompheniramine Maleate 2mg, Phenylephrine Hydrochloride 5mg. Also contains sodium benzoate, saccharin sodium, alcohol, sorbitol (32.76g/60mL). Sorbitol may have a laxative effect or cause diarrhoea.
Dosage:
Children 6 to under 12 years: 5ml every 4 hours (maximum 6 doses in 24 hours).
Adults and children 12 years and over: 10ml every 4 hours (maximum 6 doses in 24 hours)
Precautions:
Medication may cause drowsiness. If affected do not drive a vehicle or operate machinery and avoid alcohol. If you suffer from high blood pressure, asthma, heart or thyroid disease, diabetes, glaucoma, difficulty in urination due to enlargement of the prostate gland, hypersensitivity to any of the ingredients or are taking medication for high blood pressure, or are on antidepressants, sedatives or tranquillisers seek medical advice before taking this medication. Also consult your doctor if you have chronic cough as occurs with smoking, breathing problems or chronic lung disease such as asthma, chronic bronchitis - emphysema or have a cough with excessive phlegm. If symptoms persist for more than 48 hours or are accompanied by a high fever, a doctor or pharmacist should be consulted.
